The Uganda National Lottery Takes Flight!

The Uganda National Lottery has been widely acclaimed as a transformative and responsible initiative that benefits citizens across all social classes, thanks to the efforts of the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, Finance Minister Matia Kasaija, Security Minister Jim Muhwezi, and Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa emphasized the importance of this lottery and urged Ugandans to support it wholeheartedly.

“The Uganda National Lottery represents a responsible and constructive way to give back to our communities. It’s vital that we all appreciate and fully endorse this effort to ensure its success,” said Chief Guest Tayebwa on Friday, July 26th, 2024.

The event, hosted at Speke Resort Munyonyo, brought together industry leaders, business magnates, and key government officials from across Africa to celebrate with ITHUBA Uganda, the newly appointed national lottery operator. This high-profile launch follows the initial ticket sales that began on June 1, 2024.

Mr. Aloysius Mugasa Adyeri, Chairman of the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board was flanked by the Board, the Chief Executive Officer Mr. Denis Mudene Ngabirano, management, and staff at the event.

“Under our stewardship, the Uganda National Lottery is committed to upholding responsible gaming practices. We ensure that our operations not only provide entertainment but also adhere to the highest ethical standards. Our focus is on safeguarding participants and promoting a safe, fair, and responsible gaming environment,” Mugasa noted.

The Uganda National Lottery is set to generate substantial revenue, with 30% allocated to the Ugandan government. These funds will support critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and sports, ensuring ongoing investment in Uganda’s development.

The official launch of the Uganda National Lottery marks a pivotal moment for individual Ugandans and the nation. “We envision the Uganda National Lottery as a key contributor to our nation’s development goals, supporting vital sectors. I have directed that this financial year’s proceeds be earmarked for the development of sports infrastructure as Uganda prepares for AFCON 2027,” noted Finance Minister Kasaija.

With an initial investment of $14 million, ITHUBA Uganda aims to offer a platform that changes individual lives, significantly boosts national revenue, and drives economic growth.
